Which Spanish girls name would you choose?
I'm trying to choose between two beautiful Spanish girl names: Isabel and Gabriela.
I can't decide between the two and I also need some middle name suggestions for Gabriela.
Please tell me which name that you like better and also suggest some middle names to go with them. Spanish or Latin names only please- please don't suggest the Marie's, Grace's, etc.
Which Spanish girls name would you choose?
Isabel is the one I prefer, but Gabriela is very pretty too :)
Isabel Miranda
Isabel Sofia
Isabel Vanesa
Gabriela Natalia
Gabriela Maria
Gabriela Sabrina
Reply:I love both names but if i had to choose i think i would pick Isabel because i know a song about a girl names Isabel and its a beautiful song about a girl named Isabel who is a very happy, bubbly girl and is beautiful and very kind hearted so i love the name. Everytime i hear or see the name Isabel thats what i think of.

My best friend is having twins, what are good names for a set of boys/girls?
Why would you give them sets? They're going to look the exact same for the rest of their life. They need to have some sort of individualism from the other...
Give them their own names.

Reply:I hear it all at the hospital and here are the ones that I found to be different. Might not be exotic or unique but to some it may. Though these are not my personal choices some were quite funny. Good luck in your search.

What is the difference between girl and boy names in hurricanes?
Please don't just give me girl and boy names of hurricanes i would like to know the difference. Website links would be greatly appreciated.
What is the difference between girl and boy names in hurricanes?
I am not sure what your exact question is, but here is the web link that answers most any question on the naming of hurricanes.

Reply:When they have ran out of girl names they switch over the boy alphabet, that has only happened once.2005-6 I think it was.Its because they had so many storms they ran out of names.
Reply:There is no difference-they started using male names when they started to run out of female names-end of story
Reply:She and He
is the difference one has an extra letter "S"
Reply:They switch off every year.

DO YOU LIKE THESE NAMES FOR GIRLS?
Kyle
Shea (pronounced shay)
Elle (pronounced EL or L)
Elektra
Anastasia
Asia (pronounced asya, with a short A and the I pronounced like an E)
Alessandra
DO YOU LIKE THESE NAMES FOR GIRLS?
Kyle- I do know a girl with this name and I just don't like it for girls, it's a cute boy's name, though.
Shea- I do like that name (I know a woman with that name) but I like it more spelled "Shaye."
Elle- I do like it pronounced like that a lot. It's very elegant.
Elektra- I do NOT like this name at all! It's just not even pretty!
Anastasia- I like this name a lot. It's not common and I like that!
Asia- I like this name pronounced like the continent (I can't understand how you're trying to explain your pronunciation!)
Alessandra- I like "Alexandra" more than "Alessandra." Alessandra sounds very stuck-up and snooty to me.
I also like the names Juliette, Avery, Emery, and Ava.
Best answer, please?

Reply:Kyle - Yes
Shea (pronounced shay) - yes
Elle (pronounced EL or L) - Yes
Elektra - No - too trendy and hokey (what with the movie and Carmen and all)
Anastasia - one of my daughter's many names
Asia (pronounced asya, with a short A and the I pronounced like an E) - no - too pretentious and she'll spend her entire life correcting ppl's pronunciation and watching them roll their eyes and say "whatever". besides, it sounds like a stripper.
Alessandra - LOVE it.
Reply:Alessanda is the only one I like. All the others are weird. Elektra and Anastasia are too Hollywood sounding. Asia is a continent, so I don't know why you would want to name a child that. Kyle is a boys name and I think the trend of naming girls boys names is over now. Shea is just silly. It sounds like Shea butter.
Reply:i looooveee love all of them but im not really into kyle.

What are the most unusual and wierd girl/boy names?
WE NEED TO KNOW NOW!!! We certainly cannot- and I mean CANNOT- live our lives correctly until we find out. This is a life or death situation people. LIFE OR DEATH! Understand? Kapeash?
What are the most unusual and wierd girl/boy names?
i think a wierd boy name is Pubert and a wierd girl name is Minerva. ^-^
Reply:Well depending on what kind of weird name your looking for is where you should start.
Some people find foreign names weird and some people make up their own names to break from the norm.
Personally liked names that are unusual:
Heximer (unisex)
Hexidecimal (unisex)
Axiom (unisex)
Xiomara ( girls)
Seven (unisex) its pretty popular name actually...
Xena (girls) for the Warrior Princess
Zoicite (boys)
Luna (girls)
Artimis (unisex)
Serena (girls)
Serenity (girls)
Divinity (girls)
Conrad (boys)
Gomez (boys)
Darien (boys)
Endymion (boys)
Haruka (unisex)
Sappho (girls)
Well if you don't like any of these email me I can try and find some more.
But these are some of the few I would like to use for my children so please keep the laughing to a minimal
thanks!

If you could re-name the Spice Girls, what names would you choose ?
Old spice is definatley for the red head. Skinny spice for the posh one. Butchy spice for sporty spice, Bitchy spice for Scary, and chubby spice for the blond. Now that was totally rude of me. I wonder what the spice girls ever did to me.

What do you think of the names Matika and Tamasin for 2 girls?
theyre pretty, and very original. i like them. you could call matika tika or mattie, and tamasin Tammy, tama w/e if ur lookin fr nicknames
What do you think of the names Matika and Tamasin for 2 girls?
I like Matika. Not keen on Tamasin as a first name as my initial impression was Tasmanian Devil.
Reply:My daughter has a name that is a little different, and people are constantly mis pronouncing it. The thing she likes the most thought is that she is the only one she knows with her name. Your names are nice, they sound like they might be African American names. I know I thought for monthes before picking out a name my husband and I both could agree on. Good Luck.
Reply:Matika is ok, but Tamasin sounds like a medication.
Reply:Matika sounds like you made it up off the top of your head, but Tamsin (instead of tamasin) is a wonderful name. My best friend is called tamsin and she's a fantastic character!
Reply:Tamasin sounds like you misspelled tamsin and matika sounds too close to makita which is a tool manufacturer. sorry!!
Reply:I don't like those
Reply:Hmmmm.... I dont like them
Reply:Hmmm.......not sure about those names, they are different, but think about how it would affect the kid/kids, Matika sounds ok, nothing special, Tamasin, I am not sure I like at all, good luck!
Reply:dont like them
Reply:Matika sounds like an African flower
Tamasin sounds like an amazon warrior woman
I think if you took out the "in" and maybe replace it or leave it it would sound much better

What does the girls name Avari look like in Chinese characters?
I don't think it can be done because the Chinese alphabet does not have a character for the letter V.
What does the girls name Avari look like in Chinese characters?
There's no direct translation!!! Like my Chinese name in English aren't exactly meaningful words in English. See: Pang Wing Hei. I get an error when I put "Hei" in Microsoft word. But if you want a rough phonetic translation or whatever that's called, I'd 雅花莉 (how it's pronounced in Cantonese in brackets)
é›… is graceful, (Nga)
花 is flower and (Fa)
莉 is soley used for names, but it's a plant of flower of a sort due to the crosses at the top of the character. (Lay)
Reply:click on my face over here to the left and go to my questions there's a question on who to spell crystal in chinese symbols and this girl gave me a really cool link that you can find any name man or woman in chinese it's chineseculture.about.com of something like that! check it out!

What are your favorite old-fashoined girl names?
It seems to me the top baby girl names like Sopia, Emma, Olivia, Ella, Sarah, and Abigail are old-fashioned names - they are just really popular so no one looks at them as old-fashioned anymore. I have always been drawn to older names but now that I'm having children my lifelong favorites that my friends used to make fun of me over are now their kids names! So, I'm now going even further "out of the box" and looking for something pretty and feminine but a bit different. Some on my list that I like are Millicent, Evelyn and Genevieve. (you can see what I mean) I'm still trying to find the one name that I love - do you know of any different old-fashioned names that are not super popular?

When people names their baby girls "Madison" and "Addison" do they not realize that they mean..
son of Matthew and Adam (respectively)
When people names their baby girls "Madison" and "Addison" do they not realize that they mean..
No, they don't realize it. They think Madison and Addison are so cute and adorable, when really they're horribly masculine and surnamey. What's even worse is when they do the godawful spelling changes like Addysin and Madesyn. Gag.
And to the person who said the meanings were "made up", and all names were made up at one point; you really need to do some research on etymology.
Reply:From behindthename.com
Madison: From an English surname meaning "son of MAUD". It was not commonly used as a feminine name until after the movie 'Splash' (1984), in which the main character adopted it as her name after seeing a street sign for Madison Avenue in New York City.
Addison does mean "son of Adam"
Reply:Mackenzie is worse still.
From the Gaelic surname Mac Coinnich, which means "son of Coinneach". Coinneach is an Irish name meaning "handsome". A famous bearer of the surname was William Lyon MacKenzie, a Canadian journalist and political rebel.
Reply:Who cares? I don't plan on naming my children based on a "meaning" that someone made up! If you think about it all names had to be made up at some point in time, and someone made up a "meaning" to go along with them. It's just an opinion someone had of the name, and it doesn't actually mean anything. I base my name taste on the sound of the name....not the meaning.
Reply:I never heard that before, but they sound like girls names to me. I like Madison better than Addison, but personally, I don't know any boys by those names. Plus there are many names that are used for both female and males.

Reply:How about scrambling the letters in the name Megan?
I came up with 'Gemna' (but it can be pronounced as Jem-uh with a silent 'N') or spell it as 'Gemma' or Jemma if you want.
I also came up with Magne but I don't think you'd go for that.
I think the name 'Kate' would go well with Gemma.
Megan Ann
Gemma Kate
Another idea is to come up with a name that starts with the first letter of Megan's middle name and come up with a middle name that has the first letter of Megan's name.
Anya Melissa
Ariana Marie
Ashley Miranda
Alisa Mallorie
Other suggestions are:

Good Names For Twin Girls! Last name Duncan.?
Congratulations! Since Duncan is a Scottish surname, in addition to considering given names from your husband's family as well as your own, you might look at the following link: http://www.babyhold.com/list/Scottish_Ba...
Lara and Tara go well with Duncan as do Isobel and Alison.
Traditionally, Scots named their girls first after the father's mother and then after the mother's mother. For example, if the dad's mother was Mary, the first daughter would be named Mary, and if the wife's mother was named Margaret, the second daughter would be named Margaret. Third daughters were named for the mother herself. BTW, my great-great-great paternal grandmother was a Margaret Duncan (b. 1798 --) of Moore County, North Carolina. She married an Archibald McDonald. My mother's family followed this naming system until about 1900 while my dad's family used this system until the 1920s. Another common practice among Scots and Americans of Scottish descent was to use the mother's maiden name as a child's middle name.
Reply:As Adair has said about the surname subject and it still fits here "Since you have asked this in the genealogy forum, I am going to respond as a person who is passionate about genealogy. Instead of giving you a list of meaningless names as others are doing, I am going to suggest that you dig into your family tree and pick a name from your family tree that has more meaning to you than some random name you just pick out of a phone book. If I were going to change mine, that is what I would do. I would want my name to be important to me and mean something to me. A name out the phone book does not accomplish that."
Reply:This site was kind of interesting about names for twins which are linguistically connected. Some of the names may be too old fashion but I like these ones:
Cara and Mia
In Italian Cara means "beloved" and Mia means "my". Together they mean "my beloved", as the phrase caramia.
Chandra and Selene
Chandra means "moon" in Sanskrit and Selene is the Greek goddess of the moon
